Do you have a specific chapter for this question?

In Chapter Ten, we learn that Adams has advised Joseph and Fanny to keep their relationship chaste.

In Chapter Eleven, we learn that Adams has advised the young couple not to rush into marriage.

"...Mr Adams had with much ado prevented them from marrying, and persuaded them to wait till a few years’ service and thrift had a little improved their experience, and enabled them to live comfortably together."
