Why do you think Johnny didnt take the cup when he had the chance ? Would you have taken it ?

When Cilla offers to let him take back his silver cup, he declines. I think Johnny is no longer interested in the cup. He has evolved into a young man with a greater purpose in life than when he worried about his cup.
