What does Mr. Lapham want Johnny to do? Does Mr. Lapham side with Johnny or Dove on this problem? Do you think Johnny deserves his troubles? why or why not?

Mr. Lapham says that Johnny should try to find a new trade that he can do even with a deformed hand. Mr. Lapham also asks Johnny to “forgive Dove like a Christian” (47). This is how Johnny finds out that Dove caused the accident. Although Mr. Lapham says that Dove was very repentant and didn’t mean to hurt him. I suppose Johnny had some responsibility for his situation in that he was overbearing and rude to Dove. This frustrates, the not so witty Dove, enough to play the dangerous prank.
