What does Dove say when he speaks rudely, and who does he speak rudely to?

I see no evidence of Dove's rudeness in the second chapter of the text. In fact, Dove only speaks to say "good morning" to Mr. Lapham and to read from the family Bible.... poorly. Please check your question for the correct chapter number.
