After leaving Paul revere's house- Johnny sees Cilla and isannah. Why does Johnny find them annoying now?

Having been away from them for some time and seeing them in a whole new light makes him realize that his life has improved.  Rab and his acceptance of Johnny and Johnny's injured hand gives Johnny a new look at life.  He feels much better about himself, especially when Rab comments that people only remember Johnny's hand when Johnny points out the problem.
