Scale over tritone substitution chords

I don't believe this has anything to do with "Jazz." Do you have a question about the novel or is this a musical question? If this has to do with the novel please be more specific. If it doesn't, we cannot help you on this forum.

I know that over a tritone substitution chord you can use a dominant scale with the #11, for example, lydian b7 scale...anyway, time ago I was playin´over the "Girl from Ipanema" standard, and for some reason I found that in the first section, (Fmaj7 G7 G-7 F#7), over the F#7, the F minor pentatonic worked all right to me...Even when the root of the scale, F, is the maj7 of F#, and it should be wrong, but...sounds good...any idea??
