1) Jane's cousin John hits her with a book shortly after she arrives at their home.

2) Jane is blamed for her fight with John and locked in the room where her uncle died (the red-room).

3) A fire is intentionally set in Mr. Rochester's bedroom.

4) Mason is attacked by a woman in the attic bedroom upstairs. He is stabbed and bitten.

5) Bertha Mason burns Thornfield, killing some of the servants. Mr. Rochester is blinded. Bertha dies by flinging herself off the roof.
