Jane Eyre

How does Bronte use structure?

I have been asked to do an essay on this however my main question at the moment is Why did Bronte use St John offer of marriage as the climax of the novel? Why not have the climax somewhere else?

I need this answer pretty quickly please!! :)

Bronte uses the proposal of marriage to illustrate that Jane's priority in life was not marriage..... she didn't want to be taken care of by a man, and she wasn't going to settle for marrying a man she didn't love romantically. Jane wanted to chart her own course.... she wanted a marriage based on love and equality. In the climax, Bronte is making a statement..... that women were more than they were expected to be, and that social mores and expectations for women should not be weighed by their marital status.
