Karana and Rontu get stuck in the cave when the tide comes in before they leave. It is impossible to leave the cave during high tide. Karana is frightened by the dolls she finds in the cave that have big black eyes. Karana knows that the dolls were crafted by her ancestors, but is afraid none-the-less.
