Would having Buckley along have made any difference in any of Chris’s decisions?

The family believed that had Chris taken Buckley along on the trip he would have been more careful, that he would not have put the dog in danger. I don't know that the dog would have made a difference in Chris' decisions, but his natural survival instincts might have apprised Chris of other options.
