What is the differeces and similarties between Chris and Alex?

As in Alexander Supertramp? This was Chris's alter ego. Alexander is a free spirit. Really so is Chris. I never thought there was a much of a difference between the two. Alex seemed merely an extension of Chris's ideals. Alex was a way for Chris to really shed his previous identity and become the counter-culture adventurer that he always wanted to be.
