What are some other details that have an emotional impact on the readers? How do these affect you as the reader?

Chapter 14 & 15 describe the author's action and his emotinal and psychological state as he climbs the mountain. For example, when he accidentally burns a big hole in his tent, which actually belongs to his father, he is more worried about his father's reaction than the cold. What are some other details that have an emotional impact on the readers? How do these affect you as the reader?

This of course depends on the reader. I think these recollections humanise Krakauer and makes the reader connect with and even trust the author. Krakauer's personal memories make him a more dependable and empathetic narrator to tell Chris's story.
