In Krakauer’s depiction of McCandless, is he a flat or round character? Static or dynamic?

Krakauer's depiction of Chris is a round and static character. There are many sides to Chris's personality. Although there is some mention of Chris realizing his folly at the end of the book I don't think it is enough evidence to prove that he really did change his ways.
