The people who live here are of a mixed type: they are poor (indigent), snowbirds (people who leave the cold weather for summer weather), nudists, aging hippies, and people who travel from place to place (itinerant) who have just come to the area by the Salton Sea in California as a place to live and settle. Chris feels a connection with these people.
