Into the Wild

Does the book so far support this position? Do you agree with Krakauer? Why or why not?

Krakauer argues in Chapter 14 that McCandless's death was unplnned and was a terrible accident (134). Does the book so far support that position? Do you agree with Krakauer? Why or why not?

I don't think Chris planned his demise. I think Krakauer makes it clear that Chris was a flawed person. He was naive about living in the Alaskan wilderness and overly romanticized isolation. Chris, however, was not on a death wish. One can interpret this an accident because of Chris's ignorance of geography and wilderness living.
