I like Jon Krakauer as a narrator. His climbing expertise combined with his sense of Chris as a counterculture adventurer makes him a perfect narrator. I also recall Jon Krakauer finding many similarities between himself and Chris. This is why he breaks the narrative about Chris, in places, and refers to himself. Jon Krakauer is what I consider a reliable narrator for he has little to gain by exploiting Chris's story. Instead we are given an insight into Chris's mind that very few others can give.
