what might be some of the reason that DR.Flint was so attracted to Harriet?

I think she goes into hiding before ever having relations with Flint. I think one reason that Flint liked her might be that Harriet rejected his advances and on top of that, took up with a white lawyer. This made Flint desire her more as well as incite his anger further.
