Who is Pena, what is he like?

Captain Pena

Victor Alicinio Pen, the head of the northern division of the SIM. He is a very fat man with "sharp, piglike eyes," and a toady of Trujillo. After Pedrito and Nelson are arrested, he takes over their land. In Chapter Ten, Captain Pena arrives at Patria's home and scares the children. He tells her that the SIM made her husband an offer: he would get his freedom and farm back if he divorced "his Mirabal wife," but Pedrito refused.
