What inspires Maria Teresa to join the underground? What does it reveal about her in contrast with Minerva?

She falls in love with one of the underground's members (Leandro) and marries him. Maria Teresa is influenced by her husband, and their involvement in the revolution is a family affair. Minerva, however, doesn't base her decision to join the revolution because she's inspired by a man. Once a huge Trujillo supporter, Minerva finally learns who Trujillo is and turns against him.
