In the Time of the Butterflies

In the time of the butterflies

what is the fathers opinion about his daughter and her desire to become a lawyer?

How might this foreshadow later in the story?

Papa is stuck in his patriarchal view of women. He refuses to let Minerva enter a "man's world", and insists that she return to her “rabbit cage” after the convent school. I think this might foreshadow the rebellion that the sisters have against patriarchal authority.
