What is Truman's point when he talks about Mr. Clutter leaving his job of being an agent to owning his own farm on page 11 through 12?

The description of Mr. Clutter's dreams and ambitions allow us a deeper look into his character. It also allows us, as readers, to understand the accumulated wealth of this bright, innovative man. In addition, we can also understand how outsiders would perceive his wealth and target him an an object of jealousy..... and for theft.
