What ways are the gods similar to human beings

Throughout the Iliad the gods act as Apollo does here, intervening or refusing to intervene in human affairs on the basis of their own feelings. They are thoroughly unpredictable and do not invoke any particular principles which might justify or at least explain their actions to those seeking some reasonable explanations for what they do.
