What kind of person is Agamemnon? What tests of character confront him? To what extent does he pass those tests? What temptations does he find irresistable? Why? How does this behavior affect his heroic image?
This is just a short answer space. I can make a comment though. Agamemnon is King of Mycenae. Son of Atreus. Brother of Menelaus. Commander-in-chief of the Achaean forces. As the high king of the Achaeans, Agamemnon feels the burden of responsibility most strongly. He is at times torn by indecision, and at other times he is a stubborn and monstrously proud man. His insult to Achilles' honor is an outrage, and he is never able to bring himself to give Achilles the true apology that will bring the great warrior back to battle. But his majesty is recognizable, and his attacks of indecision show how seriously he takes his role as ruler.
