What did O'Brien feel about the war?

O'Brien often describes the war as pointless. He believes it to be unethical and unjust. In the end, he concludes that we stepped in and took part in someone else's war...... something we had nothing to do with...... a problem that the Vietnamese should have been left to sove on their own.
