How does David get back among them? How does he known ?

Throughout the story, David has been careful to protect himself, to hide his identify and thus, keep his freedom. In the end, he does not gain freedom on his own: king sacrifices his own life for David.

I'm not sure what you're asking here. In Chapter Eight, while David is playing with King, he unknowingly comes too close to one of "their" outposts. He and King are forced to hide.
