House on Mango Street

Can u tell me if this is the right theme for this book?

One of the themes of the story is about finding yourself in the world, but also to never be ashamed of your roots. The theme becomes clear when the three Sisters tell her, “You will always be Esperanza. You will always be Mango Street. You can’t erase what you know. You can’t forget who you are” (Cisneros 104).B

Sure that sounds good. Make sure that you always connect specifics with your themes. I might change "never be ashamed of your roots...) to simply "discovering your roots."
