Who are the “people who live on hills”? How does Esperanza feel about them?
The people who live on hills are the rich people who live in a different neighborhood. Esperanza’s father is their gardener. On Sundays, her family goes to that neighborhood and stares “out the window like the hungry.” Esperanza envies them so much that she does not want to visit the neighborhood on Sundays anymore.
