Who is the character Hardy?
At times he seemed repressed, thoroughly Teutonic in outlook, yet his need to be loved was strong. He wanted love on his own terms. Interestingly, he seems to have a low opinion of women in general, but the one woman he was most attracted to mystified him. Was that the characteristic he found intriguing?
