The Psalmist is an older man. He is religious, and he is likely a Puritan.

The young man is unhappy with the psalmist's answer to the meaning of life. He believes in action and optimism, and although he uses religious language and is likely a Protestant, he disagrees with the Psalmist and believes that the soul lives on..... only the body dies.
