Marlow wants to find the truth about Kurtz. On the steamer, Marlow was lost in the mystery of Kurtz. Marlow romanticized Kurtz but once on shore, he begins to see Kurtz for what he actually is. Marlow needs to track Kurtz and find out the truth about the man behind the enigma.
