Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

Why is the three-headed dog guarding the Philosopher's stone from Hogwarts? Do you think that seems a bit strange, guarding something that belonged to an Ancient person? Who was also guarding the stone?

The reason why the dog (Cerebeus), was guarding the stone was because Snape didn't want anybody to steal it. The stone used to belong to the Famous Nicholas Flammel, a man who founded the stone.

Yo soy Metro.
