Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the seventh and final installment of the Harry Potter series. It was released on 21 July 2007 by Bloomsbury Publishing house and received a generally positive critical reception.
The book follows Harry's journey in discovering the Horcruxes needed to be destroyed in order to kill Lord Voldemort off and save the wizarding world. Along the way, darker secrets reveal themselves, and Rowling reveals long-held mysteries and the back stories of much-loved characters.
The main themes associated with the book include death, corruption, and religious undertones as well.
The book won the 2008 Colorado Blue Spruce Book Award and sold 15 million copies in the first 24 hours following its release. It has been released globally to 93 countries. A two=part film was released in 2011, becoming a box office success. Though it received rave reviews for the majority of the content, Kirkus reviews criticised the epilogue, calling it "provocatively sketchy."
