1. Think of a Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, or Red Riding Hood tale that--although created many, many years ago—might still appeal to children today. Choose a specific version and identify the title of the tale and the author. What is it about the fairy tale that might ‘speak’ to today’s youth? What universal issues does it address that are still important for young people today? Might it help children develop their own personalities and moral codes in a positive way? Be sure to address the elements of symbolism, theme, and archetype in the fairy tale you choose. Your response should be approximately 400 words and a minimum of 3 paragraphs. Please ensure that formal writing elements are observed: for example, do not say “I think” or “I feel”, and use formal language (no slang or cliches).
