Claudius tells Hamlet that it is virtuous to grieve his father's passing but ungodly to be obsessed with it. Claudius points out that everybody's father eventually dies, that is the natural order of things.

Tis sweet and commendable in your nature, Hamlet,290
To give these mourning duties to your father;
But you must know, your father lost a father;
That father lost, lost his, and the survivor bound
In filial obligation for some term
To do obsequious sorrow.
