The main source of conflict is Hamlet avenging his father's murder at the hands of his uncle.

Hamlet first wants to prove his Uncle's guilt to himself and the rest of the world.Hamlet stages a play enacting the death of his father to rattle Claudius's conscience. This does work but in the end the king dies with hamlet killing him.
