Hamlet did succeed in getting Claudius’s conscience. The King abruptly stands up and says, "Give me some light". He runs out of the room. Hamlet is ecstatic and manic about the king's reaction. He jumps on tables shouting, O good Horatio, I'll take the ghost's word for a thousand pound.
