No Polonius does not trust his children. By nature, Polonius is a nosy old man who acts on rumor and innuendo. When Laertes leaves, Polonius sends a man, Reynaldo, to spy on his son. As well Polonius gives his daughter pointed instructions on how to conduct herself with Hamlet and in public.
