Critically examine the problem of delay in taking revenge in the play hamlet

Hamlet is a thinker. He often chastises himself for his constant reflection on the nature of life, love, death, vengeance...instead of actually taking revenge. He has a foil in the character of Fortinbras. Hamlet knows that a guy like Fortinbras would have settled his score a long time ago. But this is why we like Hamlet. We like Hamlet the philosopher, the man who debates (sometimes endlessly!)the consequences of his actions.
