Act 4, scenes 1 and 2. What plan does the king have in mind when he calls for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to appear before him?

 The King wants Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to spy on Hamlet and inform him of the real motives behind Hamlet's melancholy.
