One example of satire would be found in Swift's portrayal of the Emperor of Lilliput, and the manner in which he chooses his ministers (their ability to walk a tightrope). This portrayal is a direct criticism of King George, and his tendency to choose his own ministers based upon connections rather than qualifications.

The people of Laputa are a satire on the enormous amounts of time and money spent by projectors to cure the country's social problems.

Lastly, the Land of the Houyhnhnms represents Swift's distaste for those who expound theories of philosophy and the expense of reality. Swift believed philosophy to be nothing more than hogwash.... he was a realist.
