The King just, wise, and a strong ruler. He believes violence and warfare are not to be givens but only used as a last resort. The thought of gunpowder (introduced to him by Gulliver) horrifies this peaceful man. As a king, he is eager to learn new things, particularly about European domestic and public ways, politics, religion, and history.
