Why does Mrs. Joe call her stick "Tickler"? What does this irony reveal about her?

She uses the stick to beat Pip and his brother. Tickler is obviously ironic because it does anything but tickle, it is more a clever euphemism.

Because it "tickles" them when she hits them with it. It's ironic because it doesn't tickle, it hurts.

Tickler is the tool that Mrs. Joe (Pip's sister) uses to hit Pip with when he is misbehaving. It's supposed to be ironic, because the name "Tickler" sounds like something harmless.
