When Pip arrives home, he is greeted by Joe and Biddy. What news does he receive? How does he respond to this and what does this tell us about his change in character?

Joe and Biddy are now married. At first Pip is upset he has been such an idiot and that true love escaped him yet again. Then Pip calms down and is sincerely happy for the two. At least this shows a bit of maturity on Pip's part. He is thinking of other people rather than himself.
