What was the effect of Pip's expectations on himself and those around him ?

Pip's expectations for himself often alienated him from the people who loved him most. He detached himself from his loved ones, believing that they held him down. He also embraced those who didn't care about him and didn't deserve him because he was trying to justify the way in which hw saw himself.
