He becomes Estella's regular playmate, is criticized by the man on the stairs, and challenged to a fight with the "pale gentleman."

Great Expectations

The more time that Pip spends with Estella and Miss. Havisham, the more distant he grows from his family. He begins to be ashamed of Joe, and is angry at the apprenticeship he now need to fulfil under Joe's tutelage.
