The life story of Joe

Joe is simply a kind and humble man. Though he is theoretically Pip's adoptive father, Pip sees him as an equal and a friend. Joe, is above all, loyal. Even though Mrs. Joe browbeats him, Joe tries to keep the family functional. He is uneducated but is far wiser in the ways of life than any "gentleman".
