Pip’s convict confesses that he is the one who stole from Joe and Mrs. Joe. What is Joe’s response to this confession what does this tell us about his character?

Joe's response.....

"God knows you're welcome to it - so far as it was ever mine,"

returned Joe, with a saving remembrance of Mrs. Joe. "We don't know

what you have done, but we wouldn't have you starved to death for

it, poor miserable fellow-creatur. - Would us, Pip?"

Joe is a good man through and through. He's generous with everything he has, and he doesn't begrudge anyone anything they need.
