Havisham wants to set Pip up for heartbreak. She is hoping that he falls in love with Estella, so that she can then tear them apart and he can experience the pain that she experienced at the hands of her fiance. She wants to know if her plan is viable by asking Pip what he thinks of Estelle. Then she can put her evil plan in motion.
