The plot of Great Expectations centers on a boy named Pip (Philip Pirrip) and his desire to achieve a high social status in the world, thus his "Great Expectations." The story centers around his life and how he has his ups and downs with Miss Havisham, Estella, Joe Gargery, and the many other characters with whom he interacts.
