I think that the major use of the fairy tale element is the use of the fairy godmother figure. Many fairy tales, like Cinderella, use a fairy godmother to help a character realize his or her dreams. Pip's fairy godmother is Magwitch . She is the person that guides Pip into realizing his "Great Expectations".
